Damn those edits and suggestions were good. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are bloody good at what you do!

I want to reiterate how crucial your support and constructive comments have been to the completion of my thesis. Together with the examiner's report, your insights have significantly improved the final version.
Once again, I thank you for your invaluable time, expertise, and the significant role you have played in my academic journey. I have learned so much from you and look forward to the possibility of working together again in the future.
I am confident that the next students you mentor will be in very good hands, and I wish you a smooth and successful year ahead.

Really wish you could have been my [supervisory committee]chair. Learning more with you than any previous faculty member.

The biggest thing you accomplished at the start was restoring my confidence which had plummeted. You enabled me to reconsider the work I was doing and to reassure me that my research was important and I had something to contribute. That was a massive part that allowed me to retake my research that I felt had been wrestled off of me by my occasional, nae, erstwhile supervisors!
I think another important part of your help. Elizabeth, in addition to using appropriate academic terms, was about structuring the chapters so that they flowed in a coherent and logical manner. This was an ongoing process and even up into the final days before the submission. The end result for the closing chapter gave it a tight and coherent summing up of the thesis as a whole.
Thank you!

Thanks for the comments and advice. Tough love is definitely what I need, along with a large dose of honesty and some Expert Wallace sauce over the top of it.

I just wanted to say “thank you” from the bottom of my heart.
Your input is invaluable and I’m so happy I’ve found you.
I wanted to say how grateful I am for your suggestions. It’s not simply improving my writing but teaching me how to improve. Also, some of your comments made me laugh out loud. I need wine, too!
I really was in despair and my imposter syndrome had got the better of me. I was truly thinking that I just wasn’t smart enough to be doing this PhD, that I lacked the educational background or worse. Contacting you was a “Hail Mary”. If this hadn’t worked out, I would’ve called it a day.
What bothers me now is that I have spent nearly four years writing this literature review and getting nowhere. You managed to fix it in the space of an hour. All credit to you for that, but I am seething that my time (and money) has been squandered up until this point. I wish I’d found you sooner. Once you pointed out how I was using charged language in that one paragraph, I could fix the rest myself. Likewise, your suggestion of narrative citations was transformative. Why hadn’t this been suggested to me before?
You are truly gifted at what you do, and I’m so grateful to have found you.

Elizabeth, was thorough in her work and not only showed me the corrections but taught me to see the errors myself. Her descriptions and clarifications taught me what to look for, helping me learn to become a better scholar. She made me realise how much more interesting and fun my project could have been had I had more guidance from the beginning. My only regret is that I did not reach out to you sooner.

After talking to Elizabeth, I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night last night for the first time in months! Ahh to have this feeling over my destiny again is very nice.

I originally reached out after learning I would need to retake my comprehensive exam course. I knew the second time around I needed more support and someone who paid close attention to detail. I found an amazing writing coach, Dr. Wallace. Not only is Dr. Wallace extremely knowledgeable in my field of study, but she is also a true scholar at heart. Thanks to Dr. Wallace, we passed the comprehensive exam on our second try!!”

One of the best things about these sessions was just how flexible they were. If I wanted to send a chapter, we could review it together and work on improving the content, the flow, or the academic strength of the writing. Other times we would just talk, discussing all my various challenges, concerns and insecurities around the PhD. Sometimes these sessions felt more like talking to a personal counsellor, rather than to an editor or proofreader! But, crucially, every single session I had with my designated coach, Dr. Elizabeth Wallace, was readily adapted to deliver whatever it was that I needed most, at that particular moment. The result is an incredibly organic approach to coaching.
Working with Dr. Wallace, didn’t just help me to write stronger chapters – it really got to the root of my problems by boosting my confidence in my own work, putting the research into perspective, and helping me to find my own authoritative and authentic academic voice. They didn’t just help me to improve one document, they left me better able to do that work for myself. These PhD coaching services have been an absolute game-changer for me, and I sincerely hope that other PhD researchers get the chance to work with Elizabeth

Dr Elizabeth maintained a culture of transparency and knowledge-sharing. She also communicated very openly and was precise in giving out suggestions to share what is expected in the academic world. Dr Elizabeth's willingness to listen to me and understand my point of view was highly appreciated. She supported me in fulfilling my tasks and was always ready to help. Dr Elizabeth was able to deliver urgent work without compromising on the details. I often sought her guidance and expertise as she adapted easily to various situations and different kinds of expectations. Dr Elizabeth was very respectful towards me and she has portrayed exemplary behavior in all aspects of our work. Her deliverables were expectational and they helped building our great relationship. Thank you, Dr Elizabeth!
