A Video Introduction from Elizabeth:

"After talking to Elizabeth, I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night last night for the first time in months! Ahh to have this feeling over my destiny again is very nice!"  Rachel, France

I lift trucks!

That's what a grateful doctoral candidate told me I did for him after I helped him with his thesis.

I've been working with doctoral candidates for many years and I'm happy to be able to use my experience to help you to succeed too.

My first degree was in Honours English, and my passion for correctly placed semicolons is legendary.  I earned my MEd and PhD at the University of Toronto, and my career in academia has included teaching at a number of colleges and universities.

I've served on doctoral committees so I know what supervisors and examiners want. For eight years I worked in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of British Columbia, and launched the award-winning Graduate Pathways to Success program to support over 10,000 graduate students.

Since then, I've been coaching PhD candidates internationally for many years. I use my experience to provide feedback and guidance on thesis structure, narrative flow, and argument. I help you work through anxiety and the ever-present imposter syndrome. I can explain how to write a Literature Review, and tell you the difference between a Research Paradigm and a Theoretical Framework...everyone's favourite challenge.

A PhD is a Lonely Marathon. Having completed that marathon myself, I understand how demanding it is and I can coach you to:

  • Follow the route and stay on track
  • Pass each milestone on time
  • Understand how to write a thesis to document the marathon
  • Build resilience when you begin to weaken
Above all, I can offer you a hand up if you stumble and need encouragement to reach the finish line.  And I'll stay by your side so you don't feel isolated.
And I promise that we'll always be able to find the humour in situations.

"Working with Dr. Wallace, didn’t just help me to write stronger chapters – it really got to the root of my problems by boosting my confidence in my own work, putting the research into perspective, and helping me to find my own authoritative and authentic academic voice. They didn’t just help me to improve one document, they left me better able to do that work for myself."  Richard, UK
